The work of Jersey-based digital training business Codex DLD has been recognized by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) in its annual awards for its encouragement of adults to learn digital skills.
Codex DLD picked up the Mourant Ozannes Award for Best Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Award for their training courses which offer people of all ages, abilities and from any walk of life the opportunity to learn new skills and take a new career direction.
Since establishment in 2014, Codex DLD has trained former police officers, carpenters and soldiers, they have also worked with schools, business leaders and Channel Island residents who are affected by Autism.
Codex DLD co-founders, Richard Rolfe and Jordan Love said: “We are delighted to have won the award and receive recognition for the work we have done. We believe that when growing the digital sector in the Channel Islands, it is important for the industry to reach out to the people within the community and inspire them to make the leap into ‘digital’ and that is what we set out to achieve. Empowering individuals and businesses is the foundation of improving digital literacy in our community.”
“Our training courses enable people to gain employment within the Channel Islands’ growing digital sector and we’re pleased to gain recognition from the CIPD at this point.”
In addition to running the training courses, Mr Rolfe and Mr Love also established National Coding Week to raise awareness of the opportunities the digital sector presents.
In 2015, its second year, National Coding Week saw over 1,000 people attending 100 events across the CI, the UK and North America and gained support from the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson and Prince Andrew. The event is sponsored by JT and in this year the National Coding Week Awards were launched with winners due to be announced in spring 2016.
