Bid to build four-bedroom home on former Miramar Hotel car park

Tuesday 01 August 2023

A four-bedroom house could be built on the car park of the former Miramar Hotel in St. Brelade, if Planning gives the green light.

The empty plot is north of the Mont Gras d’Eau-based hotel, which closed several years ago and received planning permission in November 2021 for its demolition and replacement with three four-bedroomed units.

In a statement accompanying the car park application, agent JSL Architecture writes: “Currently much of the site is being used for welfare and parking for the Miramar development opposite.”

It adds: “The car park has degraded over time and does not add significant character; it only demonstrates the substantial opportunity to regenerate and improve an unused space while providing much-needed housing.”

The plot is in the ‘green backdrop zone’ as defined in the Bridging Island Plan. It is proposed that the two-storey home will have a lawn, patio area and external bike storage as well as space for three vehicles.

The planning application, which has been graded 'Major' and will be considered at a later date, can be viewed here.
