Two Acting Harbour Masters have gained internationally recognised qualifications to coordinate Maritime Search and Rescue incidents in Jersey’s territorial waters.
Fleur Moisan and Philip Le Neveu received their Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) Search Mission Coordinator qualifications after three weeks of intensive training at the National Maritime Operations Centre in Fareham, further training in Jersey and a three-day assessment back in the UK.
The pair passed their assessments and are now operational on the Coastguard Duty Officer roster.
Jersey's Harbour Master, Captain Bill Sadler, said "We are extremely proud of Fleur and Phil, who both passed their assessments with flying colours. We enjoy an excellent relationship with the MCA and are pleased to be able to send all our Coastguard officers on their training courses. Not only does this provide well-trained officers, it also aligns us with international standards."
