Katie Park has become the first in the Island to be shortlisted for a National Dental Award as "Hygienist of the Year".
Colleagues from The Cosmetic Dental Group are off to London for the award ceremony in support of her nomination, which is taking place at the Barbican Centre London on the evening of Friday 24 January.
The organisers of the awards reported 320 entries this year and Katie Park is now in the short list of only 21. A spokesperson for the awards organisers, FMC, said they were delighted at the number of entries and said that the standards this year were highly impressive.
Dr Jonathan Wood BDS, partner at The Cosmetic Dental Group said: "It is such a credit to Katie’s gentle approach to patient care, work ethic and management skills to see her success having been shortlisted out of hundreds of applications for the FMC Hygienist of The Year award. Having worked with so many hygienists over the last few decades I fully support Katie and it would be fantastic recognition for such an outstanding clinician who has set the standards for very gentle care from our Hygienist Department."
Katie Park said: "I am absolutely thrilled to have been short-listed. I would like to thank my loyal patients for their generous testimonials and also the team support I receive from all my colleagues at The Cosmetic Dental Group. I was particularly touched that the other hygienists in the practice, Victoria and Tammy were so enthusiastic about my nomination. I hope to do everyone proud at the awards ceremony and it would be great to receive some recognition for Jersey too!"
