Wednesday 31 July 2024

The "driving force" behind the creation of the island's social housing provider has announced that he will be retiring from his position as CEO next year.

Ian Gallichan will step down as CEO of Andium Homes in July 2025, after a 34-year career in the housing sector.

The announcement comes as Andium Homes celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

The social housing provider was established in 2014 under the leadership of Mr Gallichan.

Educated at Victoria College, Mr Gallichan began his career as an officer in the Royal Hong Kong Police.

He then joined the Housing Department in 1991, where his "dedication and expertise" saw him rise through the ranks

Mr Gallichan was appointed as Chief Officer of the Housing Department in 2006.

Commissioning an independent review of social housing in Jersey, Mr Gallichan then began to lay the groundwork for significant improvements in the quality of social housing in the island before the creation of Andium Homes.

The housing provider is now the island's largest residential developer and landlord, and has a portfolio of over 4,900 homes which serves over 10,000 islanders most densely based in St Helier and St Clement.

Richard McCarthy CBE, Chair of the Board at Andium, said: “Ian’s retirement marks the end of an era for Andium Homes.

“His contributions to social housing in Jersey are immeasurable and his legacy will continue to inspire us.

We are deeply grateful for his service and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.”

The Board of Directors will now commence a "comprehensive search" for a new CEO to lead Andium Homes.
