Appleby reduces carbon emissions by over a third

Thursday 17 October 2024

Appleby has retained its Planet Mark Business certification after reducing its carbon emissions by more than a third.

The law firm said it had achieved a 37.2% absolute reduction in measured Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 39.2% per employee reduction compared to the previous year.

A Planet Mark Certified status is an independently recognised symbol of sustainability progress which demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to measuring and reducing their carbon emissions.

To retain its certificate, the company was required to measure and reduce emissions across the Group while working to improve data quality.

Group Managing Partner Malcolm Moller said he was "delighted" to retain the status.

"I want to extend my thanks to colleagues across our organisation who have worked on sustainability initiatives, large and small, which contributed to this success," he added.

"It’s important that we continually review our progress and we know there is more to do but this is a tremendous foundation on which to build our efforts to decarbonise.”
