Atlantic's Head Sommelier named in top 100 in UK

The Atlantic Hotel's Head Sommelier has been named in the top 100 wine professionals in the the UK.

Alexandru Dan was ranked 40th best sommelier by the Sommelier Edit in a prestigious event in London earlier this month.

The Sommelier Edit's 2024 Top 100 list uses an aggregated points system to accurately assess and analyse each sommelier’s professional successes based on their experience, career and educational achievements, day-to-day responsibilities, and performance in competitions.

Mr Dan, who has over 15 years of experience and been a part of the Atlantic team for 18 months, received the news at a ceremony at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel.

In a statement, the Atlantic Hotel said Mr Dan's "impeccable taste and dedication" have elevated the hotel's Ocean Restaurant and contributed to the team's broader appreciation of wine.

Hotel owner Patrick Burke congratulated Alexandru on his remarkable achievement.

“We are incredibly proud of Alexandru for being named 40th in the 2024 Top 100 UK Sommeliers," he said.

"His passion for wine and commitment to excellence are evident in every aspect of his work, and this recognition is testament to his dedication”.
