Katie Speller and Pamela Mlsek-Mitchell have been appointed as branch manager and assistant branch manager of the community banking team at Barclays in Jersey.
Barclays has created the team of community bankers to ensure customers receive the best service possible and enjoy their banking experience more.
Community bankers will spend more time ‘on the floor’ interacting with customers and helping them access the range of services available to them.
Miss Speller began working at Barclays in 2013 as a cashier and in 2014 became a personal banker.
In her new role as branch manager Miss Speller will be responsible for leading and engaging the community banking team, who in turn will be focusing on providing quality customer service for their clients and maximising overall branch performance.
She said: “Bringing in community banking has provided staff with a clear and distinctive development pathway for those who want to progress within the business. So far, this has shown to significantly improve the level of service we can offer to our valued clients.
“As well as this, we are becoming more active within the community with initiatives such as LifeSkills and Tea and Teach sessions.”
Ms Mlsek-Mitchell is new to Barclays and the community banking role after working previously in retail and training as a secondary school teacher.
As assistant branch manager, Ms Mlsek-Mitchell’s role will be to assist Ms Speller by leading and supporting a mixture of the community banking team whilst improving overall branch performance.
Head of local markets in Jersey, Carol Bisson said: “The community banking initiative was introduced to Jersey in March this year.
“Community banking has transformed the way we interact with customers in the banking hall and in the wider community. With our newly trained staff now in place, we like to think our customers will enjoy the variety of what we have to offer as well as the experience of banking with us even more.”
