Blakeley Legal prove that where there is a Will, there is a way

Advocates Blakeley Legal have proved that where there is a Will, there is definitely a way, by raising over £5,500 for charity during November 2014’s Will Aid campaign.

Will Aid clients were offered a basic Will and asked to consider making a voluntary donation instead of paying the firm’s usual fees. Local will-makers responded with enthusiasm and gave generously.

The money raised is shared by nine UK charities, including ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, SCIAF in Scotland, Sightsavers and Trocaire in Northern Ireland. The funds raised are already being put to work by the Will Aid charities.

The firm has taken part in four Will Aid schemes and this year’s fantastic result means they have raised a grand total of over £11,500 for the Will Aid charities.

Nick Chandler from the British Red Cross visited the firm, thanked the staff involved and presented their Will Aid certificate. He said: “I’m delighted to be able to thank the team at Blakeley Legal in person for their hard work and dedication in raising funds for Will Aid. These funds help to ensure that the British Red Cross can continue to help people in crisis both in local communities here in the UK and across the world. For example, in the UK, we were able to provide valuable short-term care and support to vulnerable people after an accident or illness, giving them the confidence to continue their daily lives.”

The firm’s Probate and Accounts Manager, Lucy Cox, said: “We are very pleased to be involved with the Will Aid Scheme. We are a small firm so cannot make large financial donations to charity but we can give our time to help people. A Will is one of the most important legal documents there is. It’s vital for peace of mind that your affairs are in order, especially for your loved ones who are left behind. Making a Will as part of the Will Aid scheme is a great way to make sure your wishes are carried out while raising money for charity.”

Will Aid Campaign Manager, Shirley Marsland, said: “The Will Aid charities are so grateful for the hard work of the team at Blakeley Legal. This has been a very successful campaign and overall we have already received over £1.6 million and, with donations still being received, we expect the final total to be nearer £2 million. The Will Aid charities will be able to put the money raised to immediate use to make a real and immediate difference to the lives of the people in need in the UK and all over the world.”
