Consultancy firm on the hunt for young problem solvers

Local consultancy firm BWCI is looking for mathematically-minded students to train up when they are back from uni.

The company has been supporting local students studying for a degree for the last nine years and is offering another bursary this year.

As well as providing financial support, its bursary students participate in a structured training programme during their summer holidays, for the duration of their course.

BWCI’s HR Manager Alison Hawkins said: “We are looking for applicants who enjoy maths and problem solving. They need to have an A grade in AS level maths, as well as at least one other A grade at AS level. Despite these challenging criteria we always receive applications from an impressive range of local students.”

Last year’s recipient of BWCI’s bursary was Josephine Norman, who is studying Economics at the University of Surrey.

Josephine said: “What makes this bursary stand out for me is that I'm able to work for BWCI every year for two months for the duration of my university course. This allows me to gain valuable industry experience in different areas of the business, while getting a feel for what working life is actually like.”

The closing dates for entries is 27 February 2015 and you can get further details and an application form from Alison Hawkins (ahawkins@bwcigroup.com) or go to:  http://www.bwcigroup.com/bursary/

The BWCI Group was established in 1979 and is the largest group of actuaries, consultants, insurance and pensions specialists in the Channel Islands - employing around 100 staff in its offices in Jersey and Guernsey.
