Carey Olsen's consistently high levels of service were praised in the latest edition of Chambers UK, one of the world's leading reference and ranking guides for the legal sector.
The law firm once again achieved top tier rankings across the Channel Islands in corporate and finance, dispute resolution, trusts, property and employment with the inclusion of investment funds in the corporate and finance category in Guernsey.
The guide singled out the Jersey corporate team's 'impressive expertise in M&A work,' and noted the team is also 'highly regarded for its work in other areas including dealing with banking and finance, structured finance and securitisation'.
They were commended for their work on behalf of Quotient, a Jersey registered company, advising on its IPO on NASDAQ. The Jersey litigation team was cited for its work with Hawksford Trust Company Jersey in claims relating to a breach of trust and contract.
Their Guernsey counterparts were described as the 'pre-eminent investment funds team on the island with a similarly strong offering in corporate and finance matters,' and acclaimed for their 'proven track record of advising major alternative asset managers’. The firm's litigation team were also commended for their representation of Barclays Wealth, as former directors of a company, in the Court of Appeal (and then the Privy Council) following a claim of breach of duty.
The firm was also praised across the board for its service levels, responsiveness and quality of work. Comments included:
‘They always find the time for a call and are happy to meet up and discuss an issue. They are always appreciative of new enquiries no matter how big or small’
'The level of service they provide is of the highest order'
'There are very responsive and always an asset to have on any transaction’
32 of the firm’s lawyers were also featured in the directory’s individual rankings, including 14 Guernsey partners and 12 Jersey partners.
Carey Olsen chairman, John Kelleher, said: "These rankings are the result of our practice teams' hard work and dedication throughout the year, and the strength of the relationships we maintain with our clients and referrers.
“It is particularly rewarding to see our corporate and finance team maintain its top tier position across both Guernsey and Jersey, and this is testament to our continuing ability to offer a bespoke client service.”
The Chambers results follow the recent publication of the IFLR1000 and Legal 500 UK where Carey Olsen was similarly awarded top tier status.
