Channel Islands CIPR announces 'Value of PR' annual forum

Friday 17 August 2018

Leading voices in the world of PR, including a representative from Slimming World, will be among the guest speakers at the Channel Islands CIPR annual forum held next month as the branch celebrates its tenth anniversary.

The 'value of PR' will be the focus of the event - announced for the first time today - which will take place at the Club Spa and Hotel on 27 September.

Guest speakers will include CIPR president Sarah Hall, founding chairman of the local CIPR group and managing director of Curzon PR, Jason MacKenzie, and Richard Bagnall, chairman of the International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC) and CEO of PRIME Research UK.

Daniel Rowles, CEO of Target Internet, and Jenny Caven, head of external affairs at Slimming World, will also speak at the event, for which Express is the media partner.

Guest speaker Sarah Hall, CIPR president, said that the event will be “a fantastic way to demonstrate the wider social purpose of PR, including its ability to influence corporate Britain and stand up to ‘fake news’."

“I’m a firm believer in the value PR can bring to organisations so am looking forward to discussing the topic in the Channel Islands. The group in the islands has been very active in the 10 years of its existence so it’s especially rewarding to be able to visit this year and mark the 70th anniversary of the CIPR at the same time," she added.

Measurement and evaluation have increasingly been under scrutiny in recent times and the forum will aim to reflect the importance of demonstrating the impact that PR activity has on the success of organisations, including businesses. It will also include a panel session exploring the ways of measuring the success of PR activity.

Mark Oliphant (pictured), chairman of CIPR Channel Islands, said: “The Channel Islands PR Forum is our group’s flagship event and we’re excited to welcome a fascinating line-up of guest speakers to join us in our tenth anniversary year.

“The value that PR practitioners bring to the organisations they serve has come under scrutiny in recent times and so we want to discuss the ways in which we can demonstrate the contribution our activity plays in creating more effective organisations. I am really looking forward to hearing from our speakers who will be exploring not just theory but also practice through the use of some very interesting case studies.”

The Forum will take place on 27 September at the Club Hotel & Spa. Early bird tickets are available online until 31 August.
