Two businesses gain ethical accolade

The Co-op and Equiom have been recognised for their commitment to promoting good corporate citizenship and responsible business practices.

The businesses were assessed according to their commitment to people, the environment, community, suppliers and customers by the Good Business Council, which consists of 11 senior business leaders.

In receiving the charter status, the pair join more than 20 companies who are at various stages in the process of gaining it.

Mark Cox, Acting CEO for the Co-Op, said they were to be awarded the Charter status and be recognised as ‘genuine leaders in the field’.

"We are a community retailer, owned by our members, and are committed to being sustainable, responsible and community focussed and it’s fantastic to see all the hard work recognised by the council," he added.

"Now we have received the Jersey Good Business Charter standard level, we will strive to receive the silver status and continue to better our engagement with the local community, lessen our impact on the environment, invest in our people and build our relationship with local suppliers."

Steve Le Seelleur, Managing Director at Equiom, was proud to see the firm receive the status.
