Delicious Jersey to make island a "must-visit foodie destination"

Thursday 21 September 2023

The Delicious Jersey scheme, launched yesterday, aims to promote Jersey's locally-produced food, make islanders proud of their local cuisine, and give people healthy food options.

A launch event was held last night for Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA) members, as well as other partners including All Island Media, the parent company of the Jersey Evening Post and Bailiwick Express.

The initiative's first event is the Dine-Out Festival, which invites JHA members to showcase menus with local food.

It will run from Sunday 1 October to Sunday 12 November.

Speaking at the launch, Marcus Calvani, co-Chief Executive Officer of the JHA, said: "We do, as an island, have a nine-by-five unbelievable pantry and we are extremely spoiled for what we've got in a small area."

As part of the Dine-Out Festival, businesses who are part of the JHA are asked to submit a menu where at least one of the courses features a local ingredient.

They are then asked to promote the scheme as much as possible, while also getting publicity from Delicious Jersey.

Bino Rodrigues, the founder of 'Out and About Jersey', has been enlisted to create an interactive website and map which allows islanders and visitors alike to find high-quality local food near them.

Tricia Warwick, CEO of Visit Jersey, said that Delicious Jersey is "a great opportunity to raise Jersey’s profile as a must-visit foodie destination".

She added: "Jersey is brimming with hundreds of incredible places to eat and drink, which is an astonishing figure for a 9-by-5 mile island.

"At Visit Jersey, our aim is to elevate the unique experiences that set Jersey apart – and one of those areas is food and drink.

"We have a great opportunity to raise Jersey’s profile as a must-visit foodie destination, and events like Delicious Jersey are key to showcasing the unique flavours and food experiences that can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike."
