Digital Jersey supports second HackJsy Hackathon

Monday 09 March 2015

Following the success of the last Hackathon, Digital Jersey is supporting HackJsy’s Hackathon for the second time.

The 36-hour event - taking place at the Digital Jersey Hub on Friday 13 March - will challenge participants to work together to build an app, site or solution in the area of financial technology that could benefit the wider community.

Participants are able to drop in and out over the 36-hours, with teams typically composed of developers, designers, project managers, finance and legal experts and digital enthusiasts. The teams’ final products will be judged by a panel of experts for the chance to win prizes:

1st prize - £1,000 in Bitcoin, sponsored by C5 Alliance, delivered by Blockcraft Exchange

2nd prize - £500 in Bitcoin, sponsored by Global Advisors Bitcoin Investment Fund

3rd prize – 3x TREZOR devices, donated by SatoshiLabs.

Digital Jersey’s continued support of the Hackathon reflects part of its mission to support and develop Jersey’s digital sector, and reflects the organisation’s recognition of FinTech as a vital and current factor in this process.

Andrew Jarrett, Director at Digital Jersey said: “Digital Jersey is proud to support HackJsy’s FinTech Hackathon and once again offer the Hub as a collaborative workspace for the event. The Hackathon provides the opportunity for great and enthusiastic minds of all levels to get together to explore fresh ideas that could be really beneficial to Jersey’s financial sector, and the wider community.”

The Hackathon is sponsored by KPMG.
