Digital Jersey has appointed a new director to help promote the island as a centre of digital excellence.
Andrew Jarrett, who was previously Chief Commercial Officer at Foreshore, will be responsible for supporting business growth within the Island, business relationships outside of Jersey and exploring new markets.
He said: “I feel very strongly about the work of Digital Jersey and the potential that the organisation has to benefit the economy. I am looking forward to joining the team and working alongside industry to create new opportunities for Jersey.”
The Chairman of Digital Jersey, Paul Masterton, said he was delighted with Mr Jarrett’s appointment.
“His excellent business development skills and contacts will strengthen Digital Jersey and increase our ability to support growth in the sector, both locally and through inward investment opportunities. I’m confident Andrew will make an immediate impact and be a major contributor to the objectives set out in our 2014 Business Plan,” he said.
During his time with Foreshore, Mr Jarrett was responsible for creating business models suitable for ‘offshoring’, leading to several of top ten UK retailers becoming clients. He also worked closely with the Financial Services Commission to foster inter-jurisdictional cooperation in the event of a disaster, to enable financial services businesses from other jurisdictions to operate from Jersey to ensure business continuity.
