Forward Group accountant celebrates exam success

Wednesday 15 November 2023

A client accountant at Forward Group has successfully completed his exams to become a Chartered Certified Accountant.

Paul O'Brien was praised for passing the exam while studying in his own time and raising a "very energetic young son".

He started working in the finance industry in 2003 as a pensions administrator.

It was this role that led him to move towards accounting.

Prior to passing the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants' exams, Mr O'Brien already held an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business and was a Certified Accounting Technician.

"I enjoyed doing the payroll work for clients and tax returns which made me realise that I probably preferred working with numbers," he said.

"This led to me to move into client accounting functions, which laid the foundations for the wide scope of my role today.

"I have always enjoyed a challenging and pressured work environment where I can test my abilities by working on the more complex areas."

Having joined Forward Group in August 2020, Mr O'Brien is responsible for the client accounting function and is the group financial controller.

He said: "I believe in giving Forward Group clients the best possible services and I’m glad my professional journey has reflected this.

"As a Chartered Certified Account, I can continue giving clients an exemplary accounts provision, bringing in further in-depth knowledge and experience to give them secure support."

Founder of Forward Group, Alun Griffiths said he understood the amount of work that goes into succeeding at the exams, particularly when based outside of a dedicated accountancy practice.

"Everyone at Forward Group is pleased to see Paul succeed at these exams," he said.

"The whole team at Forward sends Paul congratulations on this impressive achievement, which is even more impressive when you consider that he achieved it working in his own time while also dealing with his very energetic young son.

"This is the result of the unwavering effort and dedication to growing as a professional.

"Paul has always put our clients’ best interests at heart, and with this new accreditation clients old and new can be assured their receiving the best service and highest level of professionalism."
