Gov's Chief Economist first up for IoD's 2024 lunch series

Jersey Government’s Chief Economic Advisor will be the guest speaker at the IoD’s first ‘Leaders’ Lunch’ of 2024.

Tom Holvey will be discussing Jersey’s economic future at the Royal Yacht Hotel on 23 February at an event sponsored by Lloyds Bank International.

Mr Holvey, who moved to the island in March 2022, advises the Government as Chief Economist, shaping every aspect of government policy. His responsibilities also include delivering the 'Future Economy Programme', which seeks to address the challenge of the island's ageing demographic by improving productivity across all sectors and developing new business sectors.

He has more than 20 years' experience in economics, policy management and transformation as a senior public official, local politician, and economist – and before moving to Jersey, he helped establish the UK Infrastructure Bank as the inaugural Chief Impact Officer, and he previously had leadership roles in the Covid PPE recovery programme and EU Exit for the UK's Department for Health and Social Care.

Additionally, he worked as the Chief Economist for another island economy, St Helena, bringing experience of the constraints and opportunities such economies will face.
