Haute Vallée goes digital for the day

Friday 22 May 2015

Haute Vallée students are taking over the classroom today with the first ever Digital Learning Day.

The event is being sponsored by Sure, and is being run to showcase a range of different businesses to Year 9 students and get them thinking about careers in the tech sector. Organisers say it's the first of its kind in Jersey or the UK.

The students have been working for months to organise the event and make it a success.

Tom Hughes, the school’s Senior Digital Leader, said: “The primary aim of the day is for students to learn about various different tech-based industries and to get a sense of just how much technology is used in the working world.

“To do this, Haute Vallée has hired several local businesses to run workshops for the day.

“For some, these workshops will open students up to career prospects they might not have ever considered. For others, Digital Learning Day will primarily be about learning and experiencing new things.

“Above all, students get to have fun and to take something out of the day.”
