Ortac spreads its wings into pet market

Thursday 06 December 2018

A local aircraft charter business has been granted permission to transport pets by the States' Environment Department.

Jersey Airport-based Ortac will now be able to carry its charter passengers’ pets, which they describe as VIPs (Very Important Pets), from all European destinations into the island.

The commercial flight charter service launched in November after receiving its Air Operator Certificate.

It has now gained the Pet Travel Scheme-approved carrier status with the help of the States’ veterinary team.

It means that VIPs (Very Important Pets) like Athena (pictured), "a beautiful and much-loved mongrel", will be now able to travel on their charter flights.

Based at Jersey Airport, Ortac has two 2018 Cessna Citation jets, which are available to charter to destinations throughout Europe, stretching to as far as North Africa.
