Investec tops table of private-bank lending in Channel Islands

Investec has topped the table of private bank lending in the Channel Islands for the second year running.

The Anglo-South African bank says it was the leading lender among private banks for property developers, investors, and private mortgages based on the number and value of deals, excluding share transfers, completed in Jersey and Guernsey in 2021.

Jane Niles, the Head of Real Estate at Investec Bank in the Channel Islands (pictured), said that the property market in the islands remained strong and continued to attract investment both locally and internationally, 

Writing recently in Property Week, she said that “demand in all aspects of the market has been high and the investment opportunity is increasingly attracting attention.”

She added: “Both the quality and innovative nature of the projects Investec has funded demonstrate thatdevelopers and real estate investors alike believe in the underlying resilience of the economies and property markets in Guernsey and Jersey.

“We have invested in our Real Estate division and now have one of the largest teams of lending professionals in the Channel Islands. This strength and depth mean we can find the best solutions for our clients, no matter how complex the deal may be.

"For us, adaptability and close client relationships have been key to supporting them.”

Investec was named Private Bank of the Year, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, at the 2022 Citywealth IFC Awards.
