IoD publishes award winners for 2018

Tuesday 01 May 2018

Seven individuals from across Jersey’s private, public and voluntary sectors have been recognised for their leadership qualities and achievements by the IoD.

The winners of the 2018 Jersey Director of the Year Awards, organised by IoD Jersey and supported by long-term Gold Sponsor Appleby and Silver Sponsor HSBC, were selected by an independent judging panel and announced in front of an audience of 300 senior business representatives and politicians.

The full list of winners is as follows.

  • Director of the Year for Innovation: Allan Watts, Sleep Well Ltd
  • Director of the Year for Third Sector: Emelita Robbins, Jersey Hospice Care
  • Director of the Year for Public Sector: Andrew Sugden, States of Jersey Police
  • Non-Executive Director of the Year: Wendy Dorman
  • New/Start-Up Director of the Year: Johnathon Pereira, Seapower Marine
  • Director of the Year for CSR: Jamie Racjan, Fungi Delecti
  • Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Leadership: Dr Lesley Dickie, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust

The panel of independent judges for this year’s Awards was chaired by Lesley Harrison (Head of HR and Marketing, Sandpiper) and also included Tim Crowley (Managing Director, La Mare Wine Estate), Monique O’Keefe (Co-Founder, Kairos Wealth) and Paul Savery (Managing Director, Barclays).

Michael Cushing, Partner, Appleby, said: “Appleby has been a supporter of these awards since their inception in 2010 and once again they have shown that we have some exceptionally strong leaders across Jersey’s private, public and voluntary sectors, who can demonstrate real diversity in terms of capabilities and expertise. We should be proud of that.”

Chris Clark, Chair, IoD Jersey, added: “We wanted to evolve our flagship awards initiative this year to reflect the capabilities and value our leaders bring both to their organisations and to the local community. With that in mind, it was pleasing to see such a broad cross-section of individuals represented across our new range of categories, both as winners and shortlisted nominees. I would of course like to thank our generous gold sponsor Appleby, silver sponsor HSBC and video sponsor Orchid for their ongoing support.”
