Jersey 'cloud' provider expands into Cayman

Cloud service provider Calligo has announced the next step in its global offshore network.

It has signed a partnership deal with a company called MCS Ltd, which will enable it to provide services to Jersey companies with a presence in the Cayman Islands. Calligo co-founder and CEO, Julian Box, commented: "We always said that we would be expanding outside of Jersey and Guernsey, and I'm pleased to be able to announce this next step into the Cayman Islands. It is a major investment, and is exactly the sort of growth which the digital industry in Jersey is able to achieve".

Mr Box explained that his customers were looking for their data to stay within their own jurisdiction, rather than to be stored on a server across the world. That meant that Calligo would be expanding into more locations, in order to create what he describes as a "offshore cloud network":

"We are delighted to be partnering with MCS to deliver our trusted and proven services to clients in the Cayman Islands, as well as clients in the Channel Islands that have offices there. "With MCS's experience in delivering IT transformation services, offering cloud services is the next logical step". 

Calligo will be offering its cloud services known as Infrastructure as a service, Desktop as a service and Software as a service, following a launch event on March 19th. 

"We offer 100% encryption, as well as trusted data residency, all through one provider", added Mr Box. "We will be making more announcements like this in 2014, as our global network expands".
