Dairy partnership aims to enhance sustainability

Thursday 19 May 2022

Jersey Dairy has partnered with Trinity AgTech as part of its drive to become a "more resilient, sustainable business".

Trinity AgTech has been asked to create a carbon emission and biodiversity evaluation programme for their farms.

The firm uses its own technology and software to accurately measure CO2 emissions from individual farm businesses, as well as quantifying the positive contributions of  positive contribution that grassland carbon sequestration and increased levels of farm biodiversity make towards net carbon output.

Farmer Tom Perchard said the work “will dovetail perfectly into what we at Jersey Dairy are already doing through LEAF accreditation and our own Dairy Environmental Enhancement Plan (DEEP) and will enable us to make more informed and better management decisions across our businesses as we move towards net zero."

He continued: “This exciting new relationship between Jersey Dairy and Trinity AgTech really does demonstrate the proactive and ground-breaking approach that our farmers are taking towards reducing CO2 emissions and we’re delighted to be working together to deliver a more environmentally sustainable future for the island's dairy industry.”

Anna Woodley, Director of Business Development at Trinity AgTech, added: “Trinity was launched to help farms measure and leverage carbon and natural capital to create more resilient, sustainable businesses – and in doing so help solve some of the world’s ecological and environmental problems.

“We’re delighted that Jersey Dairy is one of the first to recognise this value. We look forward to helping them on their journey to create even more sustainable, low-carbon dairy that makes a positive contribution to the environment.”
