Jersey Hemp products have officially been certified by the Food Standard's Agency and added to its public list of cannabinoid products.
The UK has become the first country in the world to regulate the market for safe, orally-consumed legal cannabis extracts.
Only CBD products featured on the FSA's list are able to stay on the market, in line with the UK’s Novel Food requirements. Products not included must now be removed from shelves.
Products designed to be inhaled, such as vapes, or applied to the skin, including cosmetics and massage oils, do not fall under the FSA’s remit, however.
“The placing of our products on this list is a validation of the huge amount of care and effort the team has undertaken to demonstrate the quality, traceability, and organic nature of our range," Jersey Hemp CEO Bruce Casely commented.
"We are amongst a very limited group of manufacturers who have reached this point. We are all extremely proud on achieving this milestone.”
The UK is now the world's second largest market for consumer CBD and continues to grow, with the UK's market for consumer CBD products worth £690m in 2021 - double the level of sales in 2019.
