The island's hospitality industry body has announced the appointment of its first Engagement and Development Manager.
Georgie Dodd will manage and implement the next stages of growth and development for the Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA).
Ms Dodd, who has a professional background in collaborative working and marketing, will drive the Association's events and partnership programmes.
The new role was created to implement the plans set by the JHA’s Management Committee, which is made up of senior leaders from the hospitality industry.
Ms Dodd will work with Co-CEOs Ana and Marcus Calvani to build up the Association’s membership, introducing membership benefits and engaging with the hospitality industry’s partners in other sectors.
Ms Dodd said: “I can't wait to get stuck in, meet members of the industry and work alongside Ana and Marcus as I help the JHA implement its fantastic plans.
“I come from a hospitality background and understand the pressures that members are working under.
“As the only trade body solely concerned with hospitality, we need to ensure that our members are as enthusiastic as we are about the future of the visitor economy, willing to overcome challenges and to ensure that the industry has a long and bright future that all islanders can enjoy.”
Malcolm Lewis, JHA Chair, said: “We are delighted that Georgie has joined our small team, bringing enormous energy into her new role.
“We need to focus on building partnerships across the island, spreading the word about the industry and the work the JHA does on behalf of everyone to bring Jersey’s visitor economy the success it deserves.”
He continued: “Georgie’s boundless enthusiasm, networks and knowledge of Jersey will be a huge asset as we look to build relationships across all business sectors and communities.”
The JHA plans to strengthen the links between the businesses that provide venues, accommodation and experiences through a series of festivals and celebrations planned next year.
Mr Lewis added: “The JHA is a united voice for positive change, championing people, businesses and the future of the hospitality industry.
“Georgie’s task will be to bring people together through events and activities, reaching out to those that can help us make a difference. Our job is to make people fall in love with hospitality again.
“People are beginning to realise that without us, Jersey would not be the island we know, and Georgie will be right at the heart of showing everyone what a great offering we have here.”
