JT has partnered with Digital Jersey and Collaborate.je to launch the Channel Islands’ first Open Device Lab.
Being launched this month at the Digital Jersey Hub in Grenville Street, the Open Device Lab provides digital professionals with the tools they require to develop and test new software. These include smart mobiles and tablet devices, the first of which have been provided by JT to be used by Digital Jersey members at no charge.
Furthermore, the Open Device Lab’s location at the Digital Jersey Hub means that members can utilise the devices to their optimum capacity thanks to JT’s Gigabit network that is available across free Wi-Fi on the premises.
Tim Ringsdore, Chief Relationship Officer at JT, said that JT is committed to supporting Jersey’s digital community and is pleased to have assisted Digital Jersey and Collaborate.je in getting the Channel Islands’ first Open Device Lab off the ground.
He said: “By providing JT Smart mobile and tablet devices for the Open Device Lab we are able to further support the development of Jersey’s growing digital community by providing them with the appropriate tools for testing purposes. The Open Device Lab is a really exciting initiative and it is with pleasure that we have made this contribution which will benefit start-ups and entrepreneurs in progressing their aims within the tech industry.”
Carla Harris of Digital Jersey said: “The Open Device Lab was an idea brought to us by a member, Collaborate.je and has been launched to provide our members with the technology they need to test and develop software which is designed specifically for mobile devices. The first core set of devices has been sponsored by JT and we are very grateful to them in helping us to support our membership. The Lab itself is designed to help support the growth of the digital sector and as technology moves on we will keep the Lab’s facilities up to date to accommodate our members’ needs.”
JT has provided the Open Device Lab with two JT smart mobiles and two JT smart tablets. Equipment will be added to the Open Device Lab as technology moves forward to ensure that state-of-the-art tools are made available through it, and JT will continue as one of the contributors to this community initiative.
