Following a year of fundraising across its offices, staff from JT have made a donation of over £21,000 to their 2015 chosen charity, Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to research on the causes, treatment and prevention of cancer.

The money was raised by JT’s staff organising a number of activities throughout the year, including a dedicated charity day in June which involved staff in the Channel Islands, London and the US. Funds were boosted in Jersey by a sponsored head shave, when a number of the team went for the chop in support of their colleague who had lost her hair during chemotherapy treatment.

JT’s Global HR Director, Richard Summerfield, said: “We’re so pleased to make this donation to Cancer Research UK after a year long fundraising campaign among our staff who really got behind the cause. We are also very grateful to each and every customer who gave so generously in store to support our efforts and helped us beat our target and make a difference to this important charity. It just shows what can be achieved with a focused fundraising committee in place and we are all thrilled with the result.”

Shelley Davies, Senior Local Fundraising Manager for Cancer Research UK said: “We are so very grateful to JT for their donation which means so much to our scientists and patients. This money will go directly towards supporting the work of our doctors, nurses and scientists at Southampton hospital which is where the majority of Channel Islanders are sent for treatment. The generosity of supporters like JT means we can lead the world in discovering and developing newer, kinder treatments and to get closer to a cure.”

Fundraising activity included: the JT charity day involving JT’s staff joining in a space hopper challenge, running challenges and a guess the baby photo competition; dress down days; cake sales; office games; Christmas raffle; Cancer Research Charity Golf Day; and collection tins in the JT retail shops.
