La Mare Wine Estate has invested £500,000 into improving its events offering as part of a five-year development programme.

Work will be starting at the end of the year on the project that aims to better link the estate's events area with its vineyard, orchards and gardens.

Local architects Axis Mason have drafted plans to improve the current events space, aiming to use Jersey granite and natural oak. Floor-to-ceiling windows offering views over the vineyards and gardens also form part of the plans, as well as better wheelchair access and improved acoustics.

The ceiling, meanwhile, will become a feature in itself with three ‘wine glass’ chandeliers.

Tim Crowley, La Mare’s Managing Director, said he hoped the space would go on to host weddings, christenings, corporate functions and other celebrations, with the first event booked for next Easter.

“We’re delighted to be commencing on this exciting project. Together with the designers we are working on creating a real connection between the old and the new, bringing the outside in and really making the most of our key assets, our wonderful vineyard and gardens and the beautiful traditional Jersey Farmhouse," he said.
