Law firm boosts regulatory expertise

Lacey Advocates has appointed the former Deputy Director of the Enforcement Division at the Jersey Financial Services Commission as Managing Associate to the firm’s regulatory team.

Jamie Biddle moved to Jersey in 1997 when he joined the commercial litigation department of a large Jersey law firm, and worked for nine years as a legal assistant on serious cases involving regulatory law breaches and money laundering issues. At the Commission, Mr Biddle was instrumental in the development of the Enforcement Division’s processes and procedures, including the introduction of settlement provisions under the Commission’s important Decision-Making Process.

Beverley Lacey, the firm’s founder, commented: “For many years, Jamie worked alongside the firm’s leading Advocates, advising clients across the broadest spectrum of regulatory issues: from suspected breaches of the Money Laundering Order and sanctions to due diligence programmes and resolving issues within distressed investment vehicles, including funds. At the Commission, Jamie conducted numerous investigations and oversaw the remediation of many financial service businesses.“

Mr Biddle added: “I am delighted to join Lacey Advocates and be part of its leading team of regulatory experts. The firm’s Regulatory Team has a proven track record in achieving effective outcomes for its clients. I look forward to building on this strong, dynamic team.”
