Les Ormes is set to purchase the 22 Rocco Apartments at La Pulente adding them to the 68 they already operate. The apartments will be renamed Les Ormes de la mer.
Les Ormes has been developing 5* self-catering at Les Ormes for eight years and only two years ago opened 22 three-bedroom apartments and an outdoor pool.
This year the range of activity programmes for guests has grown with an indoor fun zone and off site activities such as coasteering. Les Ormes has very much become a mini Centerparcs but with so much more to offer off site from our beaches, heritage, and other Island attractions.
The apartments at La Pulente will supplement the six self-catering units that Les Ormes already operates next to La Rocco. Over the winter Les Ormes will invest £500,000 upgrading the units to the same standards as Les Ormes. Guests will benefit from all that Les Ormes has to offer.
Managing Director Mike Graham said: “Les Ormes is very respectful of the Rocco business owned by Sue Edwards for so many years. It’s an intensive, tough seven day a week job from sales to maintenance and housekeeping. It’s a privilege to take on the baton for the future decades and help Jersey grow its tourism economy.”
This significant investment reflects the success Les Ormes has had with self-catering, but it also reflects the confidence Les Ormes has with our Island tourism product.
Mr Graham said: “There are many factors currently favouring our Island tourism product. Sadly some world tragic factors are clearly in our favour as well as exchange rates. But locally we have strong air routes, a recovering Condor, Visit Jersey established and making an impact, and a general feeling in our community that tourism matters. Most importantly we have a beautiful Island that appeals to active visitors. Island breaks should see success for the years to come.”
Les Ormes is owned by the Bosdet Foundation. Over the coming months the charity side of the Bosdet Foundation will review its strategy, possibly towards a longer term social project.
Mr Graham said: “All the profits from Les Ormes go back to the Bosdet Foundation to invest and maintain our facilities for the long term whilst also enabling us to increase our funds for local causes. It’s certainly a win win for our economy and our community.”
