Comedy star returning to Jersey for glistening business awards

Tuesday 25 June 2024

A British comedy A-lister who has appeared in the likes of Bridget Jones Diary, Miranda and I'm Alan Partridge will be hosting this year's IoD Director of the Year Awards in Jersey.

Taking place on 8 November at the Royal Jersey Showground, the sparkling event will celebrate Jersey's most inspirational and ethical leaders.

Sally Phillips will announce the winners of the 10 categories as well as provide entertainment at the event, which also promises live music.

The actor and comedian is no stranger to the island, having previously visited for sell-out charity première of 'Me, You and Him' in Cineworld St Helier alongside co-star David Tennant. The fundraising screening held raised thousands of pounds towards a new baby monitor for Jersey's General Hospital.

Chair of IoD Jersey, Alex Ruddy, said the committee was delighted to welcome Ms Phillips back to the island for the awards.

“The IoD Jersey Awards are always a huge opportunity to recognise the best of our leaders in Jersey, but they are also a chance for all our members, guests, and nominees to network and enjoy a celebratory night out," she said.

"Sally's unique blend of wit and charm will guarantee a fantastic evening, and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all our sponsors for making this event possible.”
