A new commercial flight charter service is to launch in Jersey after a local aircraft management firm secured industry authorisation.
Jersey Airport-based Ortac gained its vital Air Operator Certificate earlier this month.
The permission means that islanders will now be ale to charter Ortac's two 2018 Cessna Citation jets to reach destinations throughout Europe, stretching to as far as North Africa. The aircraft will be piloted by two local crew and will be able to transport up to seven passengers.
Director Tobi Mathews explained: “The aviation industry is highly regulated - with good reason. Everything we do begins and ends with safety. Obtaining an Air Operator Certificate for commercial charter, from our aircraft registry, as well as a Third Country Operator authorisation from the EU, giving us permission to fly commercially across Europe, is a regulatory part of our safety compliance. The process is incredibly robust and we are exceptionally proud to have achieved these authorisations as quickly as we have."
