Lawyers from Appleby, Carey Olsen, Collas Crill and Corbett Le Quesne have been named in the Legal 500, an annual independent directory of worldwide law firms.

The guide aimed at buyers of legal services ranks law firms based on client feedback.

Seven Appleby lawyers were recognised as ‘Leading Individuals’: Office Managing Partner Wendy Benjamin, and Partners Michael Cushing, David Dorgan, James Gaudin, Tim Hart, Fraser Robertson and Andrew Weaver.

Partners Jared Dann and Richard Sheldon were also named as ‘Next generation partners’ and Counsel Jonathan Anderson as ‘Rising Star'.

In client feedback, Appleby Jersey was described as a “strong and established team with worldwide offshore support”.

Carey Olsen gained 18 top-tier rankings, nine of in Jersey.

12 Carey Olsen partners are also featured in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame.

In addition, 21 of the firm's lawyers are recognised as 'leading individuals', 11 as 'next generation partners' and eight as 'rising stars'.

“It is particularly pleasing to see so many new team members making the rankings this year, alongside our senior professionals, demonstrating the breadth of talent we have across our service lines and jurisdictions,” Group Managing Partner Alex Ohlsson commented. “We also thank our clients for providing outstanding feedback and our staff for their commitment and hard work."

Specialist family law firm Corbett Le Quesne gained a Tier 1 position in the Family Law category. 

Senior Partner Advocate Barbara Corbett was named as the ‘Top Leading Individual’, and Advocate Nicholas Le Quesne was named as the ‘Next Generation Partner’. 

“This is a huge achievement and honour,” Advocate Le Quesne said.

“To be in Tier 1 of the Legal 500 is a privilege and we are delighted that our work has been recognised in this way by such a prestigious organisation voted by clients and peers."

Collas Crill saw its commercial property teams in Jersey and Guernsey recognised. A further ten practice areas were listed as 'recommended', with mentions for five teams from each office.

Within the individual categories, ten of the firm's lawyers were dubbed 'Leading Lawyers', with others gaining the 'Next Generation', 'Rising Star' and 'Recommended' labels.

Managing Partner Jason Romer congratulated the teams and individuals recognised.
