The UK’s largest specialist wine retailer is set to open its first Channel Islands store this month in the former Sports Direct shop on Queen’s Road.
Majestic Jersey will open for business in on Tuesday 30 April, featuring over 1,000 varieties of wine.
The wine shop will offer next-day home delivery, click-and-collect service, free glass hire for weddings, and a return policy for wines they don't like in exchange for a bottle of equal value.
Majestic Jersey will stock a range of 1,200 wines – including a dedicated area for 200 fine wines – plus beers, spirits, low and no-alcohol alternatives, soft drinks and snacks.
The company will also supply wines to local gastropubs, bars and restaurants.
Majestic, named the Happiest Place to Work at the Retail Week Awards 2024, is looking for eight colleagues to join the team ahead of its opening.
Majestic CEO John Colley said: "We've had our eyes on Jersey for a number of years as part of our growth plans, so we are delighted to be opening a brand new store on the island.
"We can't wait to welcome the people of Jersey, share our expert knowledge and help them discover new wines, beers and spirits they will love."
He added: "Expanding outside of mainland UK and onto the Channel Islands is an incredibly exciting milestone for us in our growth strategy – one that underscores our ongoing commitment to investing in bricks and mortar retail.
"This is the first of many new store openings we have planned this year and we're looking forward to welcoming even more new customers into the Majestic family."
Majestic, which was bought by Fortress Investment Group in 2019, acquired an insolvent wine bar company last week.
This brought Vagabond Wines' nine bars into its portfolio and saved 171 jobs by acquiring the chain from administration.
Majestic has recently launched six new stores across England and Wales, and has plans to open up to one new store per month over the coming years.
