'Miss Brexit' to speak at IoD event

Monday 24 December 2018

An EU policy expert whose knowledge has earned her the name 'Miss Brexit' will join Jersey's External Relations Minister in an event held by the Institute of Directors next month.

Allie Renison will be speaking alongside Senator Ian Gorst at the first IoD Leaders Lunch of 2019 to give insight into her first-hand experience of the latest developments.

Entitled ‘Beyond Brexit', the lunch will take place on 29 January at the Grand Hotel.

Miss Renison leads on devising recommendations and representing the voice of IoD members on EU policy matters to both Westminster and Whitehall. She provides the link between business and government on increasing international trade and has authored a number of reports on trends in trade and trade policy.

Her UK perspective will be balanced by that of Senator Gorst, who will discuss what Brexit means for Jersey and how the island has been preparing.

Chris Clark, IoD Jersey Chairman, said: "With the calibre of our speakers, and an audience of business leaders, politicians and business owners, I expect this event to be highly significant and help shape the Brexit debate. Brexit will undoubtedly have an impact on how we do business in Jersey.

"It s a hugely complex and evolving issue and I’m delighted to welcome Allie to the Island to shed light on negotiations and the IoD’s plans to navigate the changes. It’s also vital that we have the Jersey perspective from Senator Ian Gorst and look at some real-life examples of what this could mean for the Island in terms of both challenges and opportunities."
