A local charity dedicated to planting and protecting trees on the island has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer.
Following her appointment as Interim CEO in October 2022, Alex Morel has now been appointed to the role at Jersey Trees for Life permanently.
Mrs Morel founded ALX Training, now part of BDO Jersey, and spent 14 years there as Managing Director. In 2016, her work won her the Jersey Institute of Directors Award for 'Director of the Year for a Small Organisation' and subsequently saw her shortlisted for the national UK equivalent.
Philip Taylor, the charity's Chair, said: "We are delighted that Alex Morel is joining our charity in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer. Her track record demonstrates her natural drive and business development acumen while I have seen first hand her out-and-out enthusiasm for the role and for what we do.
"Everyone here is excited about this appointment and confident that Alex's personality and experience will greatly benefit all associated with the charity."
Mrs Morel commented: "Jersey Trees for Life is positioned to make a real difference to our local environment.
"All life on Earth depends on plants and trees and therefore it's imperative that we protect our hedgerows and woodland habitats. It has been a joy working with a team that's so dedicated to trees and the wildlife which they support."
