New Chair and trustees for Hospice

Jersey Hospice has appointed the founder of a Calcutta-based humanitarian charity and trustee of a UK-based water charity as its new Chair.

Finance professional of 30 years Goetz Eggelhoefer, who moved from Singapore to Jersey five years ago, is replacing Julie Coward, who is stepping down after six years.

Joining Mr Eggelhoefer are two new trustees: Guernsey Data Protection Commissioner Emma Martins and nurse-turned-Head of Quality and Safety at the Health Department, Tarina Le Duc.

“Trustees play an integral role in directing and supporting a charity to do the very best for their cause and we are delighted to be welcoming three great new individuals to Hospice. Together Goetz, Emma and Tarina bring a wealth of experience that I can already see will have a demonstrable and positive impact on the organisation and all those we care for,” said CEO Mike Palfreyman. 

He added: “Trustees are part of our amazing community of volunteers without whom we couldn’t do what we do. I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has sat on our Board and contributed to ensuring the continued provision of outstanding care. A special thank you to our outgoing Chair, Julie Coward, who has been tremendous in leading Hospice through hugely challenging times over the last six years.”
