RBC Wealth Management's Associate Director has been appointed as Chair for the Jersey branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Fiona McFarlane is an English Solicitor, who holds an LL.M in Legal Practice and has been a full member of STEP since 2013.
She joined the STEP Jersey branch committee in July 2018, becoming Vice Chair in 2019 and supporting outgoing Chair Henry Wickham.
Part of Ms McFarlane’s role at RBC involves keeping up to date with technical news relating to the private client industry in Jersey, including proposed changes in regulation, law and policy.
Using this knowledge, she formed and chaired the STEP Jersey branch Technical and Policy subcommittee, which looks at changes in the trust environment and considers what action STEP should take, earlier this year.
“I feel privileged to be appointed chair of STEP Jersey, a significant branch of this professional worldwide, respected organisation," she said.
"Covid–19 has brought many new challenges to us all and with the Brexit negotiations underway, there has never been a more important time to represent and update members both here in Jersey and in the international arena as the negotiations continue."
