BDO Jersey has appointed Phil Ruelle as the Group’s new Chief Digital Officer (CDO).
Mr Ruelle joins BDO Jersey from Greenlight where he was Chief Operating Officer, managing the day-to-day running and processes of the company, and working with clients on a range of IT consultancy including technical due diligence, audit and strategic IT planning.
Last month Greenlight joined forces with BDO Jersey and Sator Regulatory Consulting to form an integrated professional services firm spanning audit, tax, outsourcing, financial services regulatory advisory and change consulting.
Mr Ruelle said: “The role of a Chief Digital Officer is to integrate technology into all aspects of a business, to help it become more efficient, more competitive, and more innovative. The CDO is responsible for leading digital transformation and using technological innovation to define new business models, create new services and open up new markets. It’s a relatively new concept for companies, and as one of the Channel Island’s first CDOs I look forward to helping BDO, and our clients, achieve more from the technology available to us.”
Matthew Corbin, CEO of BDO in Jersey, said: “We are delighted to welcome Phil to the BDO team. Phil is one of the most experienced consultants on Digital in the Channel Islands, and as digital disruption continues to bring increasing challenges and opportunities for businesses in Jersey it’s important to bring it to the forefront of the group.
“Phil will be working on bringing about digital transformations across the BDO Jersey firm, as well as consulting for BDO clients, helping them embrace digital innovation and successfully navigating fast paced market change brought about by rapid advancements in technology.”
With a background in Computer Systems Engineering, since starting his career working in software R&D for a Japanese tech giant, Mr Ruelle has held a number of management roles, including Director of Technology for a systematic hedge fund.
