Advocate Katie Hooper was sworn in before the Royal Court last month after successfully completing the Jersey Law examinations.
Advocate Hooper is an associate in Mourant Ozannes' litigation practice, specialising in insolvency and restructuring and contentious international trusts and private client.
In addition, Matt McManus, who works in the funds team advising private equity and real estate funds and fund promoters across company, limited partnership and unit trust structures, was admitted as a solicitor.
Commenting on the success of the two associates, Jersey Managing Partner Jonathan Speck said: "I'm delighted to congratulate Katie and Matt on their achievements and welcome them in their new roles. The route to becoming a Jersey advocate and solicitor respectively requires a considerable level of study and dedication and to achieve success is a great accomplishment. Advocate Hooper practised at the Bar of England and Wales from 2009 until joining Mourant Ozannes in 2012. During her time at the Bar, she specialised in commercial Chancery law generally, with particular emphasis on commercial, trusts and wills/probate/inheritance matters. She is a member of the Chancery Bar Association, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and an associate member of St John's Chambers in Bristol.
Mr McManus obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP Law School in London, having graduated from the University of Bristol with a BA (Hons) in Theology. He joined Mourant Ozannes in 2011, after working with the in-house legal team at State Street in Jersey for three and a half years.
