Jersey has been included in the UK’s new trade deal with New Zealand.
Signed on Monday, the Free Trade Agreement currently covers goods, but includes a provision for services that could be extended to Jersey in future.
Minister for External Relations, Senator Ian Gorst, said: “The option to extend other chapters of the agreement - such as services and digital – lays the basis for further opportunities for our island in the future, including access to new markets for our local economy.
“By engaging and participating in these negotiations we increase our presence and visibility on the international stage."
“I would like to thank all parties for their continuing efforts throughout these negotiations and ensuring Jersey’s interests are represented,” he added.
