Patrick Kielty to host tenth Jersey Construction Awards

Friday 08 August 2014

Irish stand-up comedian Patrick Kielty will be taking to stage to lead the celebrations for the annaul Jersey Construction Awards in September at the Royal Jersey Showground.

Awards Chairman David Morris said: "We are planning a party that Jersey will remember for years to come as we celebrate this milestone for the Council. What better way to mark our tenth anniversary than to welcome Patrick as our star entertainer. His enormous talent and humour will be sure to add a unique flavour to our gala event."

Mr Kielty is a regular voice on BBC Radio 2, fronting their BBC New Comedy Awards, guest presenting the afternoon and weekend breakfast shows and hosting live specials from Nashville. His TV credits include hosting C4’s “Stand Up for the Week” series and appearing regularly on their Comedy Roasts. The end of 2011 saw him back on stage, topping the bill on BBC1’s Live at the Apollo. His acting roles have included “A Night in November” at Belfast’s Opera House, which transferred to the West End in 2008.

The Jersey theme will be further emphasised with the inclusion on the party list of some high profile local talent. One of these is Mica Young, a Jersey singer song-writer who is currently establishing herself as an independent music artist. She is a soulful artist who "warmed up" for Sir Tom Jones at the recent Legend in the Park. Also included on the party line up are The Jersey Bounce, who appeared at the Legend in the Park, and Tony Gardiner.

The Gala Evening is the highlight of Construction Week and will culminate in the presentation of eleven awards to companies and individuals from all sectors of the construction industry.  Bookings are being taken now and can be made by email to info@jerseyconstruction.org.
