During the handover period, Mr Chown will lead the process to appoint Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to replace Charles Clarke and the company’s Deputy Chair, John Mills, both of whom will step down at the end of 2019.

Commenting on the appointment, the current Chairman said: "I am delighted that, following a very thorough process, which included our government shareholder and the Jersey Appointments Commission, Mark has been chosen. I believe he will provide excellent continuity and leadership for the wide-ranging, critical and exciting projects that Ports of Jersey is undertaking for the benefit of the Island.”

Mr Chown added: “I am pleased and relish the opportunity to continue to contribute to Ports of Jersey’s mission by leading the Board and I look forward to the exciting next stages of the company’s development."
