Antiques Roadshow expert Eric Knowles is coming to Jersey for a free valuation day at the National Trust for Jersey’s living Regency house museum, 16 New Street
Mr Knowles is a familiar face from the popular and long-standing BBC television programme. He has particular expertise in decorative arts and ceramics. He is hoping Islanders will have a dig around their attics
He said: ‘You might have something which you’ve been wondering about for years, or perhaps a recent purchase or heirloom which you’re considering selling. This is a rare opportunity to consult a team of expert valuers who between them have decades of experience. There’s no commitment to place your items into auction, but we can talk you through the process if that is something you would like to do.”
The event is being organised by Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions (D&B Auctions) at 16 New Street on 23 June from midday to 4 pm.
Mr Knowles will be joined by several specialists, including: the deputy chairman of Bloomsbury Auctions book expert Rupert Powell, the Head of Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions wine department, Chris Hambleton, and the deputy chairman of the auction house, James Nicholson, a qualified gemmologist.
D&B Auctions is owned by the Jersey-based Stanley Gibbons Group and was first established in 1759. They cover all aspects of the fine art and antiques market. The auction house has agreed to donate 50% of their commission from any items which are consigned for auction, to the National Trust for Jersey.
There is no charge for the valuations, although the £5 entrance fee for 16 New Street is payable. Trust members are admitted free.
