SGB Hire won the Jersey Employment Trust’s top employer award at the charity’s 20th anniversary conference.
Other winners were:
Seymour Hotels of Jersey, which won an award for its Continuous Commitment to JET;
Aquasplash and Spoor & Fisher, which were recognised for their Long-Term Commitment to the organisation;
Jersey Post, NatWest International and The Lounge for Macmillan Jersey each won Outstanding Employer awards;
the Shelter Trust at Strathmore won the award for Outstanding Partnership Working;
the Prince’s Trust took the Partnership Award;
and Carrina O’Connor, manager of the Cancer Research shop in St. Helier, won the Sue Moore Award for Individual Contribution.
SGB Hire have been working with JET since 2020, when they offered a mock interview for seven clients and a rolling programme of six-week placements. Two clients were offered full-time permanent contracts and have become valued members of the team.
The judging panel said that SGB were a great example of what can be achieved when there is buy-in at the top of an organisation and the business understood exactly where they could add value to JET clients while at the same time achieving their own goals.
The awards were held at the L’Horizon Hotel. Keynote speaker was Frank Gardner OBE, the BBC’s Security Correspondent who suffered life-changing injuries after being shot in Saudi Arabia in 2004.
