A recently launched independent think-tank has appointed the Institute of Directors Jersey Vice-Chair as Director.
Simon Soar, a business leader in the hospitality sector, was introduced to members of Policy Centre Jersey on Friday.
Alan Merry, Chair of Jersey Policy Centre, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Simon to the team. With a career focused on developing businesses in Jersey, and as Vice Chair of IoD Jersey, Simon is well placed to help us build on our momentum and provide leadership and support through, what will be, a critical phase of our development."
Mr Soar said that he was "delighted to take up the new role".
"There is already a great deal of interest in the work of the Centre, and I am looking forward to working with a wide range of stakeholders and to having the opportunity of making a difference to the important issues that we all face in Jersey," he added.
Since its formation in March, Jersey Policy Centre has held four breakfast sessions on social mobility and housing, voter turnout and healthcare.
It aims to research policy areas in the island, increasing knowledge and civic engagement. It describes itself as "non-political" and is a registered charity in Jersey.
