Jersey airport agrees short-term fuel deal

Monday 07 July 2014

A new aviation fuel supplier is to provide a short-term service at Jersey Airport, while contract negotiations are resolved with the current supplier, Rubis. ATF Overseas Holdings Limited is working with ASIG, a BBA Aviation company, which is a major independent provider of aviation support services.

ATF will supply aviation fuel to airlines and private aircraft using Jersey Airport, starting on the 30th of September.

Roger Simmons, a spokesman for ATF, said: "We are looking forward to providing a reliable and competitive service to both commercial and general aviation in Jersey. We think that it is now time for more competitive pricing in aviation fuel in Jersey. We would politely request that anyone who wishes to plan their aviation fuel purchases beyond September contacts us at their earliest convenience. We can be reached at enquiries@atffuels.com”.

Group CEO of the Ports of Jersey, Doug Bannister added:  “The arrangement is on a short-term basis to ensure continuity of fuel supply at competitive prices for commercial, corporate and leisure aircraft. Jersey Airport remains in active negotiation with the incumbent operator, Rubis and a number of options have been presented to them for consideration, including the extension of the earlier of their two leases until the end of December 2014. However, as a result of the recent decision announced by Rubis of its intention to cease supplying fuel as of 30 September 2014 and the risk and concern this would cause aviation partners, we had no choice but to implement our contingency plan, which has resulted in our entering into this short-term agreement with ATF".

"In the meantime we will continue to negotiate with Rubis in the hope of reaching a reasonable conclusion.”
