Michelin starred chef Richard Allen, executive head chef at Grand Jersey’s Tassili, has been invited to take over a Belfast restaurant for the second year running.
The Barking Dog in Belfast will be hosting a pop up Michelin star experience for diners in September and Mr Allen has been given carte blanche to produce a menu inspired by his home larder in Jersey.
In 2013, he produced a menu for 40 guests at the Barking Dog to help celebrate Belfast Restaurant Week.
Mr Allen said: ‘It was an honour to represent Tassili and Jersey at last year’s Belfast Restaurant Week and it’s flattering to be invited back to Ireland for a second year running. I have really enjoyed putting my menu together, which will hopefully reflect my passion for fresh Jersey produce and give the diners a unique culinary experience.’
Mr Allen's six-course menu will include: cauliflower velouté, mackerel, tomato, fennel and saffron stew; roast fillet of beef and chocolate, pistachio and olive oil cake.
Michael O’Connor of The Barking Dog, said: ‘It was such a pleasure and privilege to be invited to spend some time cooking with Richard at Tassili last year and everyone at The Barking Dog was delighted when he came over to run the Michelin Takeover Night at the restaurant for Belfast Restaurant Week. We are absolutely thrilled that Richard has decided to come back again this year, our chefs are very much looking forward to the opportunity to work with Richard and we are all eagerly anticipating his food creations.’
