A director at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management has come top in a national industry association exam.
Ashley Cox received a distinction and attained the highest score in the Institute of Directors Certificate in Company Direction, which is part of the IoD’s Chartered Director programme.
Mr Cox said it was great to have passed and a welcome surprise to have done so well.
“I see the benefits of the course as twofold. There is the way it will impact on the Barclays Channel Islands’ businesses, as we look to implement the learning as a senior management team to drive our business forward. It will also help us in relation to the wealth structures we administer for our clients giving our advice and administration a practical edge,” he said.
Another eight directors also passed, six in Jersey and two in Guernsey. In Jersey, Steve Gully also achieved a distinction for the certificate with Paul Le Brocq, Mark Cleary, Julie Fairclough, Aidan McAvinue and Tony Pitcher gaining passes.
The qualification covers an in-depth view of the director role, responsibilities and legal duties of a director, an understanding of the characteristics of an effective board, knowledge of financial terms and concepts and the issues and processes associated with formulating strategic business plans and achieving strategic leadership.
Paul Savery, Managing Mirector of Barclays Wealth and Investment Management in the Channel Islands said: “Barclays is passionate about supporting our employees’ professional development through professional qualifications. These are a fantastic set of results that the senior team should be extremely proud of. “
